I am an escape artist. As often as possible, I slip out of the world of man and into the world of Nature. Whether it be stargazing in the Sierras or exploring caves in New Mexico, scuba diving or - oil painting - I find my greatest solace and most profound renewal in Nature.
When I paint, in the studio or en plein air, I escape into my canvas. With a brush full of cadmium, I am picking wild mustard. I'm walking that dusty road dappled in lavender shadows or splashing through a "pthalo blue" sea.
I'd like for the viewer to share this same experience. I hope my landEscapes are not only a place for the eye to rest, but also the soul. They are meant to be a break from all that is loud and fast and artificial - a sanctuary where one can go, be still, and perhaps come away a little more at peace and a little more connected to the heart of their own wild Nature
"One touch of nature.. makes all the world kin." John Muir.
